Installation

How to install TubePress Pro to your PHP-powered website.
This article is part of a series on getting started using TubePress in standalone PHP.
This article applies to TubePress when used in standalone PHP. WordPress users should refer to this article instead.
  1. Download TubePress as a zip file to your desktop.

  2. Unzip the file. It will expand into a directory named something like tubepress_pro_x_y_z.

    Note

    Replace x, y, and z with the latest major, minor, and micro version numbers of TubePress. e.g. when saying tubepress_pro_x_y_z we actually mean something like tubepress_pro_4_2_1

  3. Upload the entire tubepress_pro_x_y_z directory to your web server in a place that’s web accessible.

  4. Download tubepress-content.zip, which is available from the "attachments" section at the bottom of this page.

  5. Unzip tubepress-content.zip. It will expand into a directory named tubepress-content. This directory will hold your configuration, add-ons, and TubePress themes that will persist between TubePress upgrades.

  6. Upload the tubepress-content directory to your web server in a place that’s web accessible. We recommend that you upload this directory next to your TubePress Pro installation from step 3.

  7. Before you move on to initial setup, make a note of the following:

    1. The absolute path on your web server's filesystem where you installed the tubepress_pro_x_y_z directory
    2. The absolute path on your web server's filesystem where you installed the tubepress-content directory
    3. The web-accessible URL of the tubepress_pro_x_y_z directory
    4. The web-accessible URL of the tubepress-content directory

Optional Installations

Due to licensing restrictions, TubePress Pro does not ship with every library that the free trial plugin includes. However it’s very easy to install these optional libraries manually. This section provides installation instructions.

JW Player (version 5.x)

TubePress can use JW Player 5.10 to play YouTube videos. We are working to integrate JW Player 6.x, but this feature is not yet ready for production.

  1. Download the file player.swf from here.

  2. Upload the file to your TubePress Pro installation at

    <tubepress_home>/src/add-ons/jwplayer5/web/player.swf

Shadowbox.js

  1. Download Shadowbox.js from here.

  2. The download will save to a file named shadowbox-3.0.3.zip. Unzip this file, and it will expand into a directory named shadowbox-3.0.3.

  3. Copy the contents of this directory (not the directory itself) to your TubePress Pro installation at <tubepress_home>/web/vendor/shadowbox/

  4. Optional. You may see scrollbars in the Shadowbox.js display. To fix this, simply edit lib/shadowbox.css. On line 8, remove the overflow:auto attribute. i.e. change it from

    #sb-player.html{height:100%;overflow:auto;}

    to

    #sb-player.html{height:100%;}
