TubePress is changing the playlist URL

I have selected this playlist https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLri_M3vdgT56op7NQmXsIZIgFCVH27SKt

It has been working fine for many months but I discovered today that there is no display.

I have tracked this down to TubePress shortening the address to ri_M3vdgT56op7NQmXsIZIgFCVH27SKt

Similarly PLri_M3vdgT56op7NQmXsIZIgFCVH27SKt is also shortened.

Testing in my browser the PL prefix is necessary but TubePress will not accept it.

Please advise.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for contacting us. YouTube strips off the leading “PL”, so the shortened URL in TubePress is safe to ignore. Are you seeing an error message of any kind? If you could, would you send us a link to a page demonstrating the issue? Feel free to send the link via a ticket 1 if you do not want to submit it publicly. Thanks; we look forward to resolving this quickly!

Hi Elisabeth

There are no error messages, just an empty page.

If I switch to one of the other feed options everything is fine.

I found that YouTube doesn't recognise the shortened link in my browser and similarly returns an empty page. In this instance there is a message
"No results for ri_M3vdgT56op7NQmXsIZIgFCVH27SKt."

Perhaps YouTube has made a change and now requires the PL prefix?

thanks

Geoff

For TubePress’s purposes, the PL prefix can safely be ignored (the YouTube Data API doesn’t care if we supply a leading “PL” or not). However, typing it directly into youtube.com may yield different results.

We tested that playlist ID on our end and TubePress had no trouble displaying the gallery. Are you able to provide a link so that we can take a closer look? Having debugging enabled 1 would also be a great help. Thanks!

It's resolved itself.

I wonder if that was a problem at the YT server end?

It's now working fine with the same play list.

Thanks for your time and caring.

(By the way your CAPTCHA recognition can be painful to deal with.)

regards

Geoff
